Invoice search timeout in Edge view


This article is to explain when you see this message when searching invoices in AP&P personal mode. 


Issue

When you search a big set of invoices in Edge personal view, sometimes you will see the message  

 

Solution

1. The timeout could go away just by limiting and specifying the search criteria to get the best results. 

2. It is also noticed that using "Creation Date" than "Invoice Date" leads to less timeouts which can be suggested to customers if it is relevant. 

3. The search engine behind the Professional view is built more optimized to handle bigger dataset search and less chance of timeouts than the Simple view.

So this view is recommanded if the customer user is frequently performing search and generating reports. Though normal precaution should be paid to limit the search criterias for good results and unnecessary timeouts.
 

 4. There is a tenant setting parameter 

There is a system parameter introduced since 22.12: "InvoiceSearchTimeout". The default value is 20(sec).
 
Max value can be 60(sec), even if configured above that.
By default, any db call taking more time will be treated as failure and shown in UI as search error with timeout. As such, no data can be shown to user for this case.


You should only increase this time if your invoice searches frequently time out. Basware recommends increasing the parameter value to a maximum of 40 seconds.

To increase the parameter value:
