You receive at least two document formats: a structured XML and a PDF file:

• The structured XML is the legal invoice, which is forwarded to Basware by the sender.
• The PDF is a readable format, which has to be created and is based on the structured format.

Both document formats, the XML and the PDF file, have the same content and both must be saved/archived.

The Ministry of Finance requires that the original invoice, the structured format (XML), together with the readable format (PDF), are kept for seven years. Depending on the document format that is provided by the sender of the invoice, a third attachment may be added. This document must also be saved/archived.
