Summary:
If you have updated your Java version, it is possible that older versions of Basware Message are not finding it anymore and the following error message can be displayed when the software is opened: "The item "javaw.exe", that this shortcut refers to, has been deleted"
This bug has been fixed with the latest version of the software.
Checklist:
- Does the software run on a server as a service in the background? If so, please note with which user the service is started;Open Task Manager, select Services and Open Services.
- In the Services window, search for Basware Message, Right Click on it and go to Log On;
- Do you use "Basware Message" or "Basware Message LE"?
This can be found relatively easily via the system control panel:
- Open it via Start > Control Panel, and then open your installed "Programs and Features".
Here you will find the installed "Basware Message". On the far right you will find the entry "Version";
- If you use "Basware Message LE", you do not need this third point. Else: Do you use the virtual printer (MessagePrinter)? If so, please remember which folder this printer "prints" into, because with the update you get a new virtual printer.
- Please use these steps to see the printer settings: In Control Panel select devices and Printers and find the Basware Message Printer.
- Open Printer Properties and find your Printer Port usually marked like in the below picture.
- Click on configure port to find the folder where the files are deposited.
Resolution:
If you know these details you can proceed in removing the program from your computer by uninstalling it from Control Panel > Programs and Features (this will remove the application without deleting the configuration);
You can then download the latest software from our Knowledge base;
After this step you can start the installation;
Basware Message:
- Please select "Server - Basware Message main application".
- If the service is required, please select the complete installation.
- If this is not required, please select the standard installation.
- If you had a very old First-Businesspost software in the past, the question is whether the configuration should be moved to the new directory. Please confirm this question.
- A virtual printer is now installed. If you do not need it, you can also delete it later (just enter Desktop as an Output Path for the printer, so the main installation continues).
- Port Name: Any name for the printer (e.g., online invoices or EDI)
- Gateway Nummer: 4900
- Output Folder: Path to the print directory (the folders that you noted in point 3)
Basware Message LE:
- You will be prompted for your sender-ID during the installation.
If you do not know, simply enter 4900_0000, the ID will be recognized automatically from your old configuration anyway.
- If the service is required, please select the complete installation.
If this is not required, please select the standard installation.
You have now installed the latest version and should no longer have problems with Java;
The old configuration has now been applied again automatically;
- If you have installed the service, please enter the correct user for the service again;
