AP Automation - In-Product Help Center

Summary:

Learn how the Product Help Center help you find answers while working in Basware — through contextual articles and search.

What is the Product Help Center?

The Product Help Center is an in-product help panel designed to help you find guidance without leaving the page you are working on. It provides help articles, search results, and contextual suggestions based on where you are in the product. The internal Product Help Center epic describes it as a comprehensive resource for user guidance, intended to provide a richer user experience.

When you need help, you open the Product Help Center from the product’s first-level navigation bar. The help widget then opens and shows content that is relevant to the product area or view you are currently using, such as “what can I do in this view?” or “how do I…?”

Where to find it:

Access it directly from the first-level navigation bar in supported Basware applications. For Tasks and Documents, users must have Professional View enabled. You can turn on Professional View in your User Settings.

A panel will open on the right-hand side, displaying recommended articles based on the category selected in AP.

Who is this for?

This article is for end users, especially:

- Invoice processors

- AP users

- Invoice reviewers

- Approvers

- Users working with invoices, matching, spend plans, tasks, documents, and insights

The Product Help Center scope includes Accounts Payable areas such as Invoices, Matching, Spend plans, Accrual report, Activity center, plus Tasks, Documents, and Insights.

What can I do in the Product Help Center?

You can use the Product Help Center to:

1. Browse suggested articles
When you open the Help Center, it shows articles that are relevant to your current page or view.

2. Search for help
You can enter a search query or question. The Help Center can then show one or more relevant articles or a more general answer when the question is broad.

3. Open linked documentation
You can select an article from the results and read instructions about the related functionality.

4. Get context-aware help
The Help Center is designed to show the most relevant articles first based on your UI context and invoice status/sub-status where applicable.

5. Use documentation with text and images
Product documentation used by the Help Center is expected to support text and images.

Example screenshot 1: Browse suggested articles

The Product Help Center looks at where you are in the product and uses that context to decide which articles are most useful.

For example, if you are working in an invoice view, the Help Center can prioritize invoice-related articles. If SmartCoding is enabled for your tenant and you are viewing an invoice, SmartCoding-related content can be part of the relevant help context.

The Help Center tries to understand the page you are on and show articles that match it.

For example:
If a user selects an invoice under Manual Order Matching and then opens the Help Center, articles related to order matching are automatically displayed.

What the Help Center does not do

The Product Help Center is for guidance and information.

It does not:

  • Approve invoices for you
  • Reject invoices for you
  • Configure the product for you
  • Make decisions on your behalf
  • Answer questions outside available documentation
