As part of our ongoing commitment to security, we have disabled all hyperlinks embedded in PDF invoices from 25.11 release onward. This change was automatically applied to all customer environments.
Why this change was made?
Hyperlinks in PDF invoices images can pose security risks and removing them helps ensure safer document handling and distribution. While Basware strongly recommends this change for enhanced security, we understand that some customers may have specific use cases that rely on PDF links.
How does it affect the end users?
This update only affects the embedded hyperlinks (such as URLs or email addresses) within PDF invoice images shown in the Images section when viewed in Basware AP&P.
Hyperlinks still appear visually as clickable links. However, clicking on them will not trigger any action.
There is no change to the underlying data. The hyperlinks will work normally if the PDF image is downloaded and opened locally.
Example:
In the invoice below, the text “DEMO-Sliced Invoices” still looks like a hyperlink.
Enabling hyperlinks:
If you would like to enable hyperlink functionality in your PDF invoice images, you can raise a case to Basware Support. However, please note that by doing so, your organization accepts full responsibility for any risks associated with hyperlink behavior, including security or compliance impacts. No warranty is provided for third‑party content accessed via these links.
