Summary:

The program Basware Message needs to send an image in black and white from your document.

This image will be created with a program named Ghostscript.

In some cases, the following error message can be displayed: Cannot run program "gswin32c.exe". CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified

This means that there is an issue with your installed Ghostscript.

Please note that Ghostscript is a 3rd party program and not owned by Basware.

This program also handles your Postscript files created with the Basware Message Printer.

Checklist

• Please check which version of Basware Message you have installed;
• If your program version is above Basware Message 3.0.4 up to 3.0.9 please follow Guide 1;
• If your Message version is older than 3.0.4 please use Guide 2;

 

Resolution

Guide 1:

• Please download the latest Ghostscript software on 32-bit or 64-bit from here (Public License): Ghostscript Download;

• Run and install the program;
• If you have installed the 64-bit version, please access the installation folder;
• Basware Message needs the file gswin32c.exe to be started. You will find only a gswin64c.exe file in the folder.
• In this case make a copy of gswin64c.exe and rename it to gswin32c.exe;

• If you have installed the 32-bit version, please proceed with the next steps;
• Copy the path of the newly installed Ghostscript (for example: C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.27\bin);
• Open the folder Basware Message from Program Files. Full path: C:\Program Files\Basware\Basware Message);

• Open the file Message.lap (and MessageService.lap if you are using the Basware Message Service) and find the entry -Dgs.path=;
• Modify it to point towards the path of the new Ghostscript (for example: -Dgs.path=C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.27\bin);

• Save the file (note: it may require you to save it in another location.you can save it on the Desktop, then copy it from there and overwrite it in the C:\Program Files\Basware\Basware Message);
• Start the program or service and initiate a data transmission;

Guide 2:

• Follow the steps above to install Ghostscript;
• Copy the path of the newly installed Ghostscript(for example: C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.27\bin);
• Right Click on the Basware Message icon on your desktop and select Properties;

• In the Shortcut tab, find the entry -Dgs.path= (within the Target field);

• Modify it to point towards the path of the new Ghostscript (for example: -Dgs.path=C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.27\bin);
• If you also use the Basware Message Service, continue by opening your windows registry (type regedit.exe in your search bar);

• Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Basware Message\Parameters;
• Right-click on JVM Option Number 0 and choose Change;

• Adjust the path to point towards the path of the new Ghostscript (for example: -Dgs.path=C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.27\bin);
• Start the program or service and initiate a data transmission;
